Faith Equestrian x SCAD SERVE

This SCAD SERVE collaboration with Faith Equestrian Therapeutic Center (FETC) reimagined service experiences for a non-profit that provides equine-assisted therapy to individuals with special needs. The project focused on enhancing participant engagement, improving spatial experiences, and strengthening community awareness of FETC’s mission.

Approach

The Challenge

Faith Equestrian Therapeutic Center (FETC), a non-profit offering equine-assisted therapy for individuals with special needs, needed innovative ways to enhance participant engagement, optimize spaces, and increase community awareness of its mission.

Design Intention

Our team aimed to design inclusive, therapeutic, and community-driven experiences. The intention was to align FETC’s spaces and activities with its mission, ensuring participants felt supported and visitors understood the impact of equine therapy.

The Process

Through interviews, surveys, and site visits, we gained insights into FETC’s values and participant needs. From there, we co-created and designed concepts and mapped spatial/experiential improvements that aligned with both therapeutic goals and visitor engagement.

Solution

Proposals included sensory paths, therapeutic gardens, and equestrian-themed play spaces to enhance participant experiences, alongside spatial improvements for safety and flow. For community engagement, we designed features like the Walk-Through Wall of Fame and structured events to build deeper bonds. I managed the process book, documenting the journey and ensuring alignment with FETC’s goals.
